Using this website
Accessibility statement
We want everyone to be able to use this website, whatever device you use and however you access the web.
This statement applies to www.nazarene.org.uk, the website of the British Isles North District of the Church of the Nazarene.
Using this website
We have designed the site so that you should be able to:
- zoom in and read pages on a small screen without text spilling off the edge
- move around the site using a keyboard, with a clear outline showing where you are
- use the site with a screen reader, with headings, labelled links and form fields, and text descriptions for meaningful images
- change colours, text size and fonts using your browser or device settings
The text is written to be as clear and simple as possible. AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible this website is
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at level AA. We believe the main pages of the site do this, but some content does not yet fully meet the standard:
- Together magazine. Back issues are PDF files designed for print. They may be hard to read with a screen reader or on a small screen.
- Other documents. Some policy documents and leaflets are PDFs and may not be fully accessible.
- The church finder map. The map uses Google Maps, which can be difficult to use with a keyboard or screen reader. The list next to the map gives the same information as text, with links to each church.
- Event graphics. Some event images contain text. The date, time and place of each event are also given as text on the page.
- Videos. Videos are hosted on YouTube. Captions, where available, are generated automatically by YouTube and may contain mistakes.
- The contact form. The form uses Google reCAPTCHA to stop spam, which some people find difficult to use.
- Other websites. We link to local church and partner websites that we do not run, and we cannot be responsible for how accessible they are.

How we tested this website
We last tested the site in October 2026, when it was redesigned. We checked the main pages with automated testing tools against WCAG 2.2 level AA, and checked them by hand on desktop and mobile screen sizes. The pages tested were the home page, About, Contact, Events and an event page, the church finder and a church page, District Assembly, Together, Policies, Vacancies and Photo credits.
Automated tools cannot find every problem, so we will keep checking the site and fix issues as we find them.
